The Design & Technical Development Workshop, organized by AALICO HANDICRAFT PRODUCER COMPANY, Barabanki sponsored by Development Commissioner Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles which was inaugurated on 20th of December 2023 by Mr. Raza Alam, Assistant Director, Development Commission Handicrafts, Lucknow in the presence of Afsana Khan, Director of the organization as well as Sanjay Kumar, an empanelled in DC Handicrafts, Ministry of Textiles alongwith Chikankari Craft and Master Trainer Shakila, State Awardee in the same craft which continued till 17th January 2024 in total for a period of 25 Days stands as a testament to the profound dedication of artisans. This exquisite embroidery technique involves adorning fabrics with intricate patterns using a variety of stitches, resulting in ethereal and timeless designs. From delicate floral motifs to intricate geometrical patterns, Chikankari showcases the seamless fusion of creativity and skill, elevating garments to pieces of art. The aim of this workshop was to provide a transformative experience for 30 artisans, who have devoted their lives to mastering the art of Chikankari. Recognizing the importance of upskilling and nurturing their inherent talent, the organizers brought together a team of seasoned mentors and experts to guide the artisans on their journey of growth and learning. Over the course of the workshop, Technical aspects, traditional stitches and innovative techniques were diligently explored, fostering a spirit of experimentation and evolution.
